2007 Kinlon KBR200

Summary:

You get what you pay for

Faults:

Battery supplied went flat within 1 month of purchase, and the bike is very hard to start using a kick start.

Plastics very weak, most of which cracked on 1st off road use without dropping.

Gearbox a little unpredictable. Sometimes no gear change, sometimes changes 2 gears.

General Comments:

Bike will do about 95 km/h for 1st 500km, then might be able to get 110km/h.

Handles on the road very well. Feels as safe as on it, but off road it is scary as it's very unstable on dirt. Might be different with a change of tyres.

Good little bike for the price. A brand new bike for the same price as a 10 year old brand name bike. Still undecided which would have been the best buy though.

Couldn't get a better bike to learn on, but feel like I have outgrown it and have only owned it for 8 months.

2008 Kinlon KBR200

Summary:

OK to get you by if no $$$, but buy a real bike ASAP

Faults:

Screw came loose in speedo on the way home from the shop I bought it from.

Bolt and nut holding exhaust pipe fell off on the road.

Ignition cut-out for side stand failed at 1500 klm, making the bike impossible to start without unplugging the cut-out switch altogether.

Welded-on nuts for the leg exhaust broke and guard came off.

Black powder coating on pipes washed off with first wash!

All plastics are complete rubbish. DON'T DROP IT!

Front wind screen cracked from light fall.

Hand brake lever snapped off from fall.

Side mirror snapped off from fall.

Foot brake lever bent in fall.

Gear lever bent in fall.

Tank plastic fairing cracked in fall.

Handle bars bend easily if dropped.

Paint flaked off handle bars very easily.

Seat has worn at edges where it touches the fairing.

General Comments:

A very cheap and OK, if somewhat dated looking, entry level road trail bike for starters and those who want something more versatile than a scooter.

Finishing detail could be better, but it is visually no worse than other manufacturers bikes costing three times as much or more. (Kawasaki KLR650)

Top speed 95klm/h maybe 105 with a tail wind, downhill and 98 octane fuel

Australian dealers, parts and support in Australia for Kinlon are absolutely useless... D.I.Y!

Tip: Take off the tank plastic and discard. Spray all other plastics matt black. Remove stickers. Respray entire exhaust with heat resistant black paint. Replace cheap nuts with nylock nuts. Have fun!

So you recommend to replace the tank, yeah? Got any tanks to recommend that fit well?
