I have a 2007 Roadstar Midnight Silverado; no problems ever.

Just an oil change every 4k miles. I will purchase another Yamaha.

I have a 2006 Yamaha Road Star. The problem I have is the transmission middle gear shaft is wrong. They installed a 2005 shaft, and stripped the pulley and the shaft. What should I do?

2006 Yamaha Road Star Silverado

Summary:

One seriously great ride; goes like hell, and looks great doing it

Faults:

Stumbles at start off until fully warmed up. Should go away once I re-jet and get the new pipes on her.

General Comments:

Handles really nice, like a much smaller ride.

The extra weight is not noticable at all, except that it rides much smoother. Don't even notice the power loss when riding two up. The 102 inch mill really gets a move on.

1999 Yamaha Road Star Silverado

Summary:

Fantastic, H D's worst nightmare, Bigger, Badder, Reliable!

Faults:

Speedometer fogged up. I paid $16.00 for a replacement double pane one. Recalled, but dealer would not cover...

General Comments:

Superb styling and comfort. Kind of dumbed down engine compared to the Warrior (same engine) but with the addition of long shots, Big Air Kit, and re-jetting, it comes alive. Tons of torque for hauling the wife and I with trailer on long 1700Km trips.

The Road Star is very acceptable on fuel economy given it's "Battering Ram" aerodynamics and is an ULTRA reliable machine. Fit and finish are almost impeccable and aftermarket add-ons are plentiful and relatively cheap by comparison. 1999 had only 1 recall on plastic speedometer cover, and NO recalls on drivetrain whatsoever. All you do is add gas, change the oil. Oh, and wave as I ride past trailer queens on the way to the shop to get more oil and gaskets.

It may be a cheaper bike, but no thanks, I will stick with my Dynaglide. The Road Star has no image.

Image???

Nice comment, but I will wave at your image as I pass your broken down Dynaglide while riding my Roadstar.

I hate to say it, but the only image Harley has is the name. The Roadstar is what Harley could have been. Why on earth people still flock to Harley paying outrageous prices is beyond me. It's like a cult... they're brain washed. I would buy two Road Stars before a Harley any day. It's funny my coworker has a Road Glide; it has been in the shop more times than he has been able to ride it. Harley has no idea what the problem is. So they ended up buying a Goldwing for their long trips. LOL. If only their Harley friends knew..:)

The one thing you don't understand is we have to have brotherhood; we have to have our Chevy engines from Canada and buy all things American made. That's what I was told, but I ride a Silverado and my Harley pals don't say much to me, or I make big fun at red lights.

I've got riding buds with Harley's and Victories, and a lot of other makes. Most comments are made in jest and we all have fun riding. So if you gotta have brand loyalty, good for you and the bike you love. I ride a Kawy for enduro, and a 2000 Road Star for cruising the highways and byways. Here's to all those Japanese bikes and their long lives and dependable drive trains. Give your poor Harley friend a ride next time you see his longing for the road.
