This is the best in general you can get with your money
This is one great motorcycle. Reliable, tons of power, easy on fuel, fun to drive. Previously as a youngster I had several XT 500s, and as I retired I bought this XT 600, and have driven it to all the places I had driven my XT 500 as a youngster. Super easy to maintain.

King of reliability
Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with my XT600. All I do is routine maintenance - such as change oil, replace tires, sprockets, and chain.
I would recommend the XT600 to anyone. Reliable motor, excellent mileage, great handling/comfortable.
Probably the best characteristic of the bike is the amount of torque it produces. (On a flat road it will out accelerate many motorcross 450cc bikes)

It's a road warrior bike
Stolen many years back - ran hard by thieves. Got it back - never started easily again. Hard starter now - used to start 2-3 kicks in the middle of winter. No other problems.
Otherwise great bike - tough as nails - lots of balls.
Fun to ride, but the seating position is not optimal for a tall guy.
