1993 Kawasaki ZX-11
Summary:
Super fast, comfortable and reliable bike
Faults:
A metal bracket holding the instruments inside the fairing broke at approximately 20000 miles.
Simmerings in the front fork broke twice, leading to leakage and repair.
Service intervals were quite short, or every 6000 km.
General Comments:
The Kawasaki ZX 11 D1 was very powerful, at least for those days standards.
The power, sound and "charisma" of the bike was very appealing to me.
Anyway, it was a little bit heavy and not too easy to handle.
Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Don't Know

It will hit 200kmph but not mph; the CBR1100 was the bike to follow in 1997 that dethroned the ZX1100 by 2-3mph as the CBR1100XX would do between 178-180mph. Today I have bought a 1996 ZX1100D, collecting it in a few hours, it is an 8.5/10 w only 35000 km and my ZX14 sells in a couple of days. In 2021 the ZX11 will qualify for collector plate status; this one is bone stock.

I also currently have a 1993 ZX11D. Super fast. Clocks 200.
I'm the third owner with 46k on her. She is cold blooded and takes a bit to warm up; once warm she's dying for road. Makes her ideal for long rides to and through wine county, but not a bike to run around the corner to the convenience store. While warming up, it may cut off a couple times.
I got about 38 MPG, and step into it often. Excellent sport tourer, I put the GIVI topcase on with hard to find GIVI hardware, along with a big tank bag; made travel for an overnighter possible.
Super heavy. I dropped it once. I had to sit there till a guy stopped to help me hoist it back up.
For people worried about the handlebars, there's little to no pressure on hands and wrists, without use of HELI BARS, the knee angles are not so bad, but after two knee surgeries, my ZX just sits in my backyard under a tarp. It's too much bike to give to my kid who rides a Ninja 250 yet. When I test drove it, I thought I was having a heart attack it was so fast. The power band kicks in at 7k. My normal shifts are around 5k. At 6k she's doing 100 mph in 6th gear. At 4200 RPM, she's doing like 75. She redlines around 11500 RPM. I suspect it will hit 200. Never took it over 145. Not enough road to go faster. At 7k, the ram air kicks in and it's like a rodeo bull.
Overall, a good bike.
