1994 Honda MTX 125
Summary:
Next to impossible to kill
Faults:
Broken rear spokes due to rust and poor riding conditions.
Cracked admission flange and some surface rust that I fixed.
General Comments:
I am still amazed how much a man can beat and abuse a machine and it still refuses to die.
In nine years of ownership I didn’t spend a penny on maintenance or care.
The forks leaked oil, the rear wheel was bent and had spokes missing. It had different color body panels and underneath the caked mud and sludge that was on the frame it was rusted as hell. Also it was full of electrical gremlins.
Still started on the first kick.
Two months ago, I decided to strip it bare, sand blast and repaint the frame. Then I took the forks to a machining shop and remade the seal seats. I custom ordered new spokes and rims, refurbished the brakes, remade the entire electrical system and painted the bike in the original color combination.
Engine and transmission assembly only needed new clutch pads and springs along with some gaskets.
Also changed every bit of rubber that was on her, and new chain and sprockets kit.
All being said, I aim to make this little Honda my main bike again.
Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
