1998 Honda Valkyrie F6 1500 Tourer

Summary:

The Valkyrie is a true muscle-bike, withstanding the test of time!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing!!!

General Comments:

Hands-down one of the best bikes ever built by any manufacturer! Paint scheme and chrome are timeless. This being the third one I've owned, I can attest that this is bike is exceptionally reliable and still has a showroom-floor appearance after nearly 20 years (erroneously got rid of the previous 2 bikes because they kept getting flats in brand new tires - Colorado roads are notorious for roofing nails during those years).

After suffering through 'Seller's Remorse' for months after getting rid of each one, I found a jewel of a Valkyrie and have cherished it ever since. Anyone who truly doesn't love a Valkyrie either hasn't spent time on one or just holds an extreme bias against foreign bikes. Honda's decision to discontinue this model is typical of Honda and is a major pitfall of theirs for us Honda enthusiasts. Brought it back recently, but nowhere near true to its heritage.

1997 Honda Valkyrie F6 1500 Tourer

Summary:

Large, loud, reliable, quick, impressive, limited

Faults:

No mechanical issues ever.

General Comments:

This bike was outfitted with glass pack mufflers and 4" slash cut truck stacks for the exhaust. It had a different ignition trigger wheel and jetting. All in all, this was an impressive motorcycle, physically and mechanically. The sound of 6 cylinders through those stacks was awesome. Everyone loved the looks too; lots of chrome.

The seating position was good, the handling was fair and the performance was good in a straight line. The downside to these is no fuel gauge, it's thirsty, it's hard to move your feet because of the cylinders, and no 6th gear.

Overall I would buy another Honda, but not another 96-03 Valkyrie.
