2006 Honda VTX1800

Summary:

Looks great, outstanding performance!

Faults:

Slight rattle with windshield.

Overall, FLAWLESS!

General Comments:

Fellow riders, I have owned in my riding career about every street cruiser on the road (Harley included). This VTX is really something; it handles really good for its size, and cornering isn't bad once you get used to it.

If you enjoy a loud bike, you will have to make some changes; my VTX has the OEM exhaust and purrs like a kitten - that's my preference.

The power at top end, you better hold on, the engine performance - power is awesome! The overall ride is really smooth, and the center of gravity is good too.

MPG AVG 40.3 is pretty good for the size of the bike with a passenger most ride times.

The VTX is my 4th Honda and will be my last past retirement, and I have a few years to go.

If you happen to come across one of these VTX 1800, I highly encourage you get it, they are not built any longer and are hard to find. You will not be disappointed...

Safe Riding.

2006 Honda VTX1800

Summary:

This is my last bike until I've had an AARP card for a while and buy a Goldwing

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

The VTX 1800 is torque on two wheels. It's got gobs of power and roll on for any situation. I moved up from a VT1100C, and the difference is immense. You definitely have to muscle it through corners, because the huge front tire and all the weight does not lend itself to being thrown around. On those long cruises though - wow. I've been rolling up steep hills, two up, and didn't have to down shift. Great bike!

My only complaint is that Honda changed the turn signal bulbs from the readily available 1157 to the harder to find Euro spec.

2006 Honda VTX1800

Summary:

I have finally bought my last bike!

Faults:

Well let's see, things that have gone wrong? It rains way too much! And Honda does not make this bike any more! So those are the only things that have gone wrong!!

General Comments:

I did some mods that were very simple and it made the already fast bike (mammoth machine my mom calls her), even more impressive!

I installed a pc 3, programmer and had it dynoed! Then put in a final from a VTX 1300! This bike is now a highway cruiser!! Not for the meek at heart! Vance & Hinds big shots are a major +, but a very smooth bike to just tour!

2006 Honda VTX1800

Summary:

Indescribable

Faults:

Nothing. My sister ran into a mailbox on the first day; bent the left fork and turn signal.

General Comments:

All the power you need and then some. You better hold on tight when accelerating.

While tiding with some hopped up Harleys, I hung with them all day and I am still stock. I just don't have all that noise, but it feels like I have the rumble.

2006 Honda VTX1800

Summary:

I would buy another one..

Faults:

I have not had any problems at all. There were a couple of screws that came loose on the seat, but no problems.

General Comments:

I rode on 3 day rides with all gear loaded, and it rides like there is no additional weight.

This bike is much better than a Harley, and has a beefy feeling that is not apparent on the Harleys until $30k.

2006 Honda VTX1800

Summary:

I love it so much that my wife is jealous!

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

I have a two tone (gold and black) 1800 that keeps me looking out my door, longing to ride on the days I that I can't.

For bike of its size and power, it is very comfortable with just enough feel to make you realize that you are on a beast.

It doesn't corner quickly, but then again it wasn't meant to and it does well enough.

Its acceleration is smooth when you learn the feel of the clutch, and when you realize that when you twist the the handle just a little, you get quite a lot.

At 60 mph the engine is barely above idle. Give it a quarter turn and you are over 80 before you know it. This is a seriously fun bike to ride!
