2012 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700
Summary:
Outstanding ride!
Faults:
Micro switch on the foot brake got out of adjustment, telling the cruise control the brake was on, causing the cruise control to fail to engage. A simple adjustment solved the problem.
General Comments:
Stereo head unit is good; has option to run an iPod or iPhone from the handlebar controls.
The stereo speakers are sub standard, and the head unit wattage output is also sub standard; added an amplifier and new speakers to correct the problem.
Bike runs hot, temp gauge was about 3/4 right out of the dealership; dealer says this is normal for this bike. When I replaced the factory mufflers with Cobra Tri Oval slip-ons, the bike runs cooler and performs better.
The grips are not the best; replaced with Kuryakyn.
Passenger comfort is outstanding, but the passenger floorboards are too far forward, and interfere with the driver's legs at a stop, especially trying to back up the bike. I made custom steel brackets and moved the floorboards down and back 1.5 inches. I like placement much better, as does my passenger.
I love this bike; the low speed handling and balance is excellent. Air shocks and adjustments allow you to ride the way you want to. We ride two up comfortably for hours. No regrets, a lot of motorcycle for the money.
I would buy this bike again? No question about it.
Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
