2010 Yamaha Road Star Silverado S 1700
Summary:
Most reliable and best motorcycle bagger I have ever owned
Faults:
Not one thing!
General Comments:
My very first bike was a 1971 Yamaha 200cc bike. Awful! Promised I would never buy another Yamaha. But this 2010 model caught my eye as it was on sale being an older, although brand new bike still sitting on the showroom floor. They got it all ready to ride and I took it out for about 30 minutes. I was impressed by everything it had. Great acceleration and braking. Stock seat was extremely comfortable. Windshield was standard and provided great buffeting protection. Very balanced and smooth.
I actually sold this bike a few years later, but bought it back again as I realized it was the best bike I had ever had. I have owned two Gold Wings, two Honda VTX 1300s, and a Honda 750 just to name a few. The Gold Wing F6B was great, but my Yamaha even beat that machine. I am never going to sell this bike again, even if I acquire another bike; I will always keep this one in my garage as well.
The only thing I have ever had to do on this bike is get the oil and tires changed. I took the original Bridgestone tires off after 7,000 miles and replaced them with Metzler 880 wide white wall tires, which I love.
I believe the Road Star is the best bike on the road today. I am sad that Yamaha stopped manufacturing them, but if you can find a used one, they are a great and reliable investment.
Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
