1998 Cagiva City 50 from United Kingdom
Summary:
All in all a good town/city bike with good looks and performance, but don't forget it's only a 50
Faults:
The bike was quite reliable, but the front disk brake was warped and the rear wheel bearings were on the way out when I sold it.
General Comments:
This scooter was my faithful commuter bike for a year and an half, and never let me down.
Performance wise it was quite fast for a 50. My mates used to have a de restricted Aprilia Rally and a Italia Jet Dragster, and mine used to be considerably faster than both due to the fact the Cagiva was much lighter at 74kg dry, and was quite aerodynamic. On an even road with no wind the bike was good for 55mph (if you tucked in) and I averaged 75mpg on my way to work.
Now for the bad bits - there aren't any Cagiva dealers near me so I was always worried about spares, and the handling wasn't great, mainly because the standard tyres provided by Cagiva are cheap and nasty. Also the wheels wear only 10 inch so large pot holes could really upset the bike.
Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
