2013 Harley-Davidson FLHR Road King Standard from Australia
Summary:
Great bike for the mature rider
Faults:
Nothing at all.
General Comments:
Needed a slower, more comfortable bike to suit my growing family, advancing years and receding hairline. Bought the Harley and couldn't be happier.
As with most Harleys, a lot of modification was required to set the bike up to suit me. A Harley TallBoy seat improved the comfort (I'm 6'4"), a taller 21" windshield from Clearview eliminated the high speed buffeting, a wiring harness available from Harley allows me to use high beam and the running lights at the same time, and a Stage One kit from Vance and Hines (FuelPak3, high flow air cleaner, Power Duals, Eliminator 400 mufflers) improved the performance and the sound.
The bike is heavy but handles well for a machine of this size. Brakes are mediocre. Performance is about what you would expect for a heavy cruiser. It's not a sports bike - just slow down, sit back and enjoy the scenery. Comfort, reliability and fuel economy are outstanding. It's super practical - equally at home on long distance tours or nipping down to the shops for some groceries. The lockable hard panniers hold plenty of gear. I've owned or ridden many motorcycles over the years, from vintage British and European to the latest Japanese sports bikes, and the Harley is by far the one I enjoy riding the most.
Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
