1981 Suzuki GN400XT from Canada

Summary:

I wish I still had it

Faults:

Really nothing. The swing arm bearing was loose, the 6 volt lights were pitifully awful, the muffler had a hole in it, but the bike started every time.

General Comments:

The GN400 was a light, simple machine (a thumper) that had nothing on it, so it had nothing that could go wrong. It had a kick-start with a compression release system that was easy to use, so battery failure never left me stranded. The gas tank was large, and it used so little fuel that the result was 400 km between fill-ups.

Parts are rare, as the bike was not common, so you need to be able to jury-rig a lot of things to keep it running.

I wish I still had it.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
