2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer from South Africa

Summary:

It's like having two bikes in one

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I bought this bike after considerable research, having set very specific requirements in terms of what I wanted. Mainly, I was looking for a bike that could be used for commuting, as well as for occasional longer trips.

The FZ6 was a pleasant surprise. At low revs in traffic she's extremely docile, but once you go over 8,000 revs, she goes like a bat out of hell. With a large tank and very good fuel consumption, the FZ6 has a tank range of well over 400 km.

The suspension does a good job of soaking up the worst of the bumps in the road, and the upright seating position makes for comfortable long trips. The stock seat, however, is very unsympathetic to your nether regions.

All in all, I think the FZ6 is an excellent machine. With its docility in low revs and plenty of power available in the high range, it is effectively two bikes in one.

If you're a die hard sports bike fan, or if cubic inches are your thing, it's perhaps not the bike for you. But if you want a capable commuter with serious punch when you need it, you should seriously consider the FZ6.

Couldn't agree more. Have owned this bike for over a year; bought it new in 2007. Best all around-do-it-all bike I have ever ridden.

Excellent handling (did constant 85 in most twisties, almost keeps up with my jixer), have been on several longer trips in excess of 400 miles, gets about 58MPG and upright rider position still allows you to ride all day without being tired out. I also have a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750, and after a few hours I am ready for a break.

I agree with the fact that the seat sucks. If you want to make this bike a perfect 10, go get a custom Corbin and you will have a bike that does it all and will get you there comfortably. If you want two bikes in one, this is your ticket... it TRULY will do it all.

Lots of room for soft saddle bags.

Cool to the touch exhaust, means less burns.

Starts great, every time.

Plenty of power in every band.

Looks sweet, after market parts available.

Way more comfortable than my KLR650.

2004 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer from United States of America

Summary:

This is one fun bike to ride, whether you are experienced or a newbie!

Faults:

Other than required maintenance and one factory recall.. Throttle Positioner Sensor... The Yamaha has been 100%

General Comments:

This 600cc Yamaha handles and stops about as good as any bike out there.

There is not a huge amount of midrange power, but it hits really hard above 8000 Revs Per Minute.

Summary:

Makes a great all round motorcycle!

Faults:

Have had no problems at all with the bike.

The dealer performed the throttle positioner sensor recall.. apart from that, regular maintenance and tires have been the only expenditures.

General Comments:

Notchy gearbox

Excellent brakes

Excellent handling for general streetwork

Good fuel range with large gas tank

Centerstand comes standard at no extra cost!

Speedometer is very optimistic!

Cheap to operate.. 90+ HP, how can you go wrong?

2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer from Canada

Summary:

Almost perfect sport bike for a longer trip

Faults:

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with the bike, at all.

General Comments:

Incredibly fast yet comfortable sport bike. Love this machine!

Not the fastest, but 90+ horsepower is an incredible thrill.

Handling is more by lean than by hanging off it, so that makes for a more enjoyable ride for me. The upright riding style is great, although the stock seat should be replaced before any long trip.

The 14,000 redline is great. The bike likes to rev up to the power band.

Only complaints are the hard seat and the throttle is too sensitive.

Love the passenger handles, which double as gear attachments.

Has never needed anything but maintenance. Build quality seems incredible.

2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer from United Kingdom

Summary:

A good all rounder

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

I bought this to commute on dry days & weekend blasts. It fits the bill perfectly on both counts.

The midrange does take a bit of getting used to, but does not detract from enjoyment.

Handles really well, and gives about 43 mpg & an average 170 mile tank range.

Did upgrade the seat though as it was a bit hard on longer trips, especially the pillion.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
