2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from United States of America

Summary:

I would tell anyone this bike rides better than the Harley Davidson I owned

Faults:

I haven't had any trouble with the bike so far.

General Comments:

I love the sound of this bike and how low it sits to the ground for a short guy. It handles great when turning in tight places and the ease of backing it out of parking places. Love the handle bars, and the floor boards are great on the bike. If you ever get the chance to ride one, you'll have to say you loved the ride.

2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from United States of America

Summary:

The best value for the money when it comes to cruisers...

Faults:

Great bike! I find it more comfortable and easier to handle than any of the four Harleys I had previously at 25% of the cost!

I would definitely recommend it...

The only problem I am having is finding someone to replace the front tire... This must be a very tedious job, because no one wants to do it... I can't even get a quote from someone!

General Comments:

Best bike of four I've ever had...

2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from United States of America

Summary:

Great and reliable bike

Faults:

Dealer service center did not reinstall the rear brake reservoir correctly, but I was able to repair it myself.

General Comments:

I acquired this Silverado used and have ridden it from Las Vegas to Flagstaff; Las Vegas to Reno and back through Yosemite, Bakersfield and Las Vegas; Las Vegas to Antioch; and will be riding it from Antioch, Denver and back to Antioch in May 2009.

This bike has proven to be very reliable, provides good mileage at around 40 mpg, and it's a fun bike to ride in the mainland. I also have another 1100 Custom in Hawaii, and several 1700's on the islands in Hawaii. Changed out the stock seats to Mustang seats for comfort... nice on the those long trips.

2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from United States of America

Summary:

Great bike

Faults:

Maybe I am lucky, but the bike has been running very well for me. Been very, very happy. I have a hyper charger, custom pipes 2.75", and a jet kit. I get about 31 mpg. I have have many compliments when I take it out.

General Comments:

The bike has great low end pull, passing power, and middle as well.

2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from United States of America

Summary:

Great value!

Faults:

At first the engine would not idle with the choke closed. Ran some Sea Foam cleaner through the fuel system and the problem is mostly fixed. Still idles rough with the choke closed.

General Comments:

With more than 27,000, this motorcycle is still in great condition. Solidly constructed, it still feels like a new motorcycle.

Fairly easy to handle at low speeds. Not a bad beginner bike if you can handle the weight.

2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from Canada

Summary:

I had it for only 2 1/2 months - So far so good!

Faults:

The only problem so far is the backfiring and popping, and an occasion stall, usually just as I come to a stop upon down shifting.

General Comments:

My 2003 V-Star handles quite well considering the weight and length.

The factory drivers seat is relatively comfortable.

I have absolutely no use for the "heel" shifter, and pretty much ignore it.

Fuel mileage is great at around 53 mpg. Last tank full of gas lasted 254 kl (158 miles) before switching to reserve. Now if I could just get rid of that backfiring, popping and stalling!

It seems like it's running too advanced and/or lean if you are getting that extraordinary mileage. The lean explains the post detonation.

Block (plug) the two chrome air injection tubes, it'll run fine.

I had the same problems with popping, stalling, backfiring... switched to regular grade gasoline. Problem solved!
