1999 Yamaha V-Star Classic 650 from United States of America

Summary:

Best bike I've ever owned, and I highly recommend it!

Faults:

When I got my back tire changed, inexperienced mechanic, he over torched the cam shaft/rear brake, and when I pressed on it the cam shaft totally twisted and I was fortunate that the control arm wrapped around the axle in lieu of it going into my spoke tire! Tough bike! However, the oil filter is a royal pain to change!

I get so many compliments, always, hasn't been a negative as yet. One of the most common being it looks larger than it is, because beneficially a large gas tank at 4.6 gallons.

I'm a petite female at 115 lbs, 4'11", and this bike lowered phenomenally well. The weight is only 480 lbs. Being a previous Harley owner with back problems (now), the weight was vital.

I intended on trading to Harley when I purchased and after I strengthened my back, but I totally love this bike and will keep it, even if for spare.

General Comments:

Looks larger than actually is because of higher capacity gas tank.

Gorgeous two tone colors.

Modified to straight pipes.

Looks and sounds like a Harley with the benefits of 95% less required repairs!

Old style classic look is awesome and lowered very nicely.

Most importantly, handles very well with a great lightweight at 480 lbs.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes

This is my original comment! I still own same bike, and still love it! was unfortunate to be rear ended on it by a car -- totally tough bike -- minimal damage to me and bike!!! I have an identical twin, including identical two tone paint, to replace and have it like brand new again!!! Even damaged rear fender, still rides sweet and get a lot of compliments on my bike!!! Highly recommend to buy this make and model!!!

I was the only one of my friends that did not own a bike. One evening, my friend said that he was offered a trade of a 1999 Yamaha V Star 650 Classic for his Suburban he was selling. He said I could have the bike and pay him when I was able to. I am 6'4" and weigh 265lbs. I was shocked how the bike had the look of a 1100 or better, but was leery. I took it for a test ride, and decided to go for it. Most people mistake it for a much bigger bike just like I did. I love the way it handles and looks. I go on many bike runs with much larger bikes, and I cruise right along with them at a steady 70 mph.

I have owned the bike for two years, and have had no regrets. I am not going to lie; I am ready for some more horse power, but I will stick with the V Star series. This is a great bike for beginners, and very easy to ride!
