I guess this is coming way too late for you, but my comment might help others. I recently changed my belt at 12500 miles and it looked like brand new. My mechanic suggested that I extend the interval to 20000 miles for the next change, and go back to the old belt at that time, as he had no doubt that there was at least another 10000 miles on it. I was charged 45 minutes of labor for the change.

If the speedometer is 10 mph off at 70 mph, that is about a 13 percent error.

So maybe it really gets 49 MPG, not 60.
